Salt dough on our fall break

My kindergartener is home this week for fall break and without fail my 'try everything' mood has kicked in with the cool weather. it feels important to be willing to let the kids make a huge mess trying new things, just like they do outside all summer. Making the best of this time spent cooped up. Although we did also make a snowman yesterday while the sun shined!  Today we made a quick and easy salt-dough recipe and cut out shapes for drying. We put a little hole in them if we decide to use them for anything. Gift tag decoration, a garland or tree ornaments. Who knows, maybe nothing! But it was a fun way to get the kids...

In Search Of Billy

Joanne Sharphead and her family have not known the where-abouts of their brother/son Billy Jay Sharphead since 2003. Today, 15 years after his mysterious disappearance, Billy’s family continues to organize and deploy an annual search in an attempt to locate belongings, clues, or sadly, his remains. It’s difficult to imagine living with such mystery surrounding the loss of a loved one, and despite only small discoveries over the years, maintaining the courage of heart to go on searching.  In hearing of their inspiring perseverance and commitment I decided to help.  On Sunday, September 30th morning myself and a small group of volunteers met with SARDAA on Enoch Cree Nation. SARDAA, the Search and Rescue Dog Association of Alberta  is a...

ABC's, Family, & an announcement

You may be aware that there are two ABC books set to release soon and all I would like to say is I don’t question that there is ample space for both of them. That the intent behind both of them is good. Among them, an alphabet product. Unexpected changes happened as they can and ushered in space for a new idea to unfold within me. I got...

Kindergarten DAY ONE! & Fall family photos

This beautiful fall morning our oldest boy, Adler (4), began kindergarten. As this neared and we checked all necessary's off the to do list, making sure he had everything he needed, I envisioned this morning, not knowing what to expect. Would there be tears, fears, or meltdowns. I am pleased to share though that he was cool as a cucumber all morning and the closest we came to any meltdown was when I put his hat on his head after doing his hair (at his request) and he threw it off exclaiming "you're going to mess up my hair!" Bad mommy.  As for myself, well I have two little ragamuffins at home to keep me company and have felt no...
